Part 1, How to add Sticky Note to PDF file on Mac:

After install the program, you can launch it to open the PDF file in the pop-up "Open" dialogue. Then choose "Sticky Note" tool in the toolbar and click on the location where you want to make an annotation in the PDF file.

Tips:

  • Move the Sticky Note
    Click on a Sticky Note icon and drag it directly.
  • Delete the Sticky Note
    Click on the Sticky Note icon to select it, then press "Delete" key.
  • Add text in Sticky Note
    Double click the Sticky Note icon and you can add text in the pop up box. Hide note texts by clicking the "x" icon.

Note: If you do not like the Sticky Note color, you can change it as you like. Click on the note icon to select it, then choose "Tools -> Inspector" from the menu bar. In the pop up dialogue, you can change the color, thickness, style and etc.

Part 2, How to add Text Box to PDF file on Mac:

When you launch the program, it will pop up a dialogue asking you to open the PDF file you want to edit. Choose "Text Box" tool in the toolbar, then click on the location on the PDF page as you wish.

Tips:

  • Move the Text Box
    Click the Text Box then drag it to move.
  • Delete the Text Box
    Click on the Text Box and then press "Delete" key.
  • Add text in the Text Box
    Double click the Text Box, then you can add text in the editable text box.

Note: The Text Box properties can be changed as well. Just click on the Text Box and choose "Tools-->Inspector" from the menu bar to change the color, thickness and style as you like.

After annotating, you can save the changes from "File -> Save" menu bar. If you don't want to overwrite the source PDF file, click "File -> Save As" option instead. As you see, Text Box is different from Sticky Note. It will overlay the page contents and you can view it directly on the PDF pages. So annotate your PDF files with appropriate annotations!
